These sermons are to remind the readers of Abraham’s confidence in the faithfulness of God. It was also to remind them that Abraham was not ashamed to build an altar to God and to worship Him in the presence of the heathen. By doing so he declared his expectation of the fulfilment of the Divine promise. Properly understood his actions serve as antecedents for Christians today. We can venture forth in faith and confidence in the promises of God. To respond positively to the command of God is the greatest service that any man or woman can do.
