Diminished Capacity is a fictional courtroom drama based on a real-life event. It is an honest and detailed examination of a 2010 Minnesota criminal case of first-degree sexual assault – not from victim’s standpoint, but from the perpetrator’s. In frank terms, the author walks us through this extended and highly controversial story. We witness an emotional trial by jury in the same town the rape occurred, with the prosecuting and defense attorneys thoroughly exposing every event that happened before, during, and after the crime. This carefully crafted and engrossing novel builds dramatic tension as the case unfolds inside and outside of the courtroom, until the moment it is placed in the hands of the jurors to render a verdict. Author Biography
The author of Diminished Capacity, Robert Clarence Swanson, holds a master’s degree in education, and for twenty-five years was a member of the behavioral science faculty at a Wisconsin public college. During his tenure as an instructor, he taught various courses in psychology, sociology, and human sexuality. Retired, he now lives in south Florida, spending the majority of his time continuing to write.
