The first edition of this manual was adopted by the Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting through Resolution 6 (2011). The manual was compiled and prepared by an Intersessional Contact Group (ICG) of the Committee for Environmental Protection (CEP) between 2009 and 2011. The current version of the manual was developed by an ICG of the CEP between 2015 and 2016.
